Thanks are due to Chuck Gutierrez - botha friend to the site and fine film maker in his own right - for steering me to Pancit Canton a short film by Jim Libiran which Gutierrez edited. Though it clocks in at just over three and a half minutes there's an arresting, raw energy to it as it presents a completely unvarnished portrait of back alley street crime, presumably in Manila, an aspect of Filipino life that seldom seems to appear on film. There is talk of this being expanded into a feature in the near future and it would certainly be a project worth pursuing ...
