Say Hello To The New Folk ...

(Posted In Random Geek Talk )

... and there are a LOT of them.

Our recent call for new writers has been a resounding success thus far and we've now added folk to cover lost cult titles, classic (as in pre-1960) film, and regional specialists from Turkey, Korea, Italy, Germany, Brazil, Singapore, Malaysia, the Arab world and more. And there's more to come ...

I'll be updating the FAQ to reflect the current group sometime soon, but in the meantime all you new folk feel free to introduce yourselves - many are well familiar from their presence in the forum and comment threads already - and everyone say hello. We're glad to have them all, and we're still hoping to dig up folks to cover a few more regions.

This greatly expanded writing staff also means that the productive life of our current site design is likely coming to an end as we were already generating so much content that it was getting difficult to find. We've already been talking about possible design changes behind the scenes for a while now, but feedback from you lot out there - you know, the people who actually USE the site - is more than welcome ...

Hello folks.

Any of you folk's going to be reviewing "The City of Violence" 2 disc special edition soon? Can't wait to see all your "folksy" names! Welcome...:)

Excellent, including more culturally different people is always a good thing...

suggestions on new site design?
I'd like to see black text on white background.
White text on black is a killer eye strain & never ever good on a computer screen. A zillion metal/goth/horror sites love it to death for obvious reasons. That is all.

Actually, there is a black text on white background version of the existing design. Click on the "Prefs" tab in the upper right hand corner and you can toggle between two different color schemes. That was set up specifically because some folks may find the "default" scheme a bit difficult to read.

Um, thanks Opus. Dolt!
So for the last few years i've been squinting like a perve on a nudist beach.

Wow.. It's so much better.
Strange i'd never ever clicked on that before.

Awesome. Looking forward to new articles by some fresh faces.

As for site redesigns, this format seems very user friendly to posters, and it's a shame to lose it, but at the same time, with more material coming in, it's going to be difficult to keep up with everything.

Hm. Decisions Decisions...

Have mercy on us all and stay away from any Flash or flash-like temptations. I don't need things rolling, disappearing and reappearing, or moving in any way on my screen to just come and read about movies. :)

No worries there, I hate flash.

My feeling right now is that we'll probably be moving to a three column layour rather than the current two and bolstering the whole thing with a much more robust RSS feeder that will allow people to subscribe by category. Left column = latest news posts, middle column = latest reviews and interviews, right column = regular columns and archive search links.
