Eureka! Classics : Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion. R2 UK DVD November 20th 2006.

Considering the regard for Eureka! line 'Masters of Cinema', wonder where the quality of these new 'Eureka! Classics' releases will sit.

This is the first one then, coming next month here in the U.K at a price slightly lower than the MoC Discs. Fingers crossed that they're not really any different in terms of their transfers, and that they manage to unearth some films not already out there on DVD - this film, 'Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion' has been released in the USA with English Subtitles in the last couple of years by Media Blasters, and it's the first of four, one of which (the second in the series, the only one MB didn't put out) is now recently out of production and fetching $50 or so on eBay.

Great series of films, and since I have them all and I avoid double dips, this is more of a pointer to those that might not know about the films - all psycadelic 70's exploitation with strong female lead, Meiko Kaji, set in and around prisons, very smart stuff. Highly Recommended. For those that know about them but are yet to get their hands on them, here's an alternative choice that's cheaper to complete.

I expect they'll put them all out, but I would love to see some previously unsubbed Japanes Exploitation, for example.
