Famous comic personality Michael "Bully" Herbig of Germany wear many hats in the entertainment business - he's a writer, director, actor and host of his own local TV comedy show. Also, he voice acted in Hui Buh: The Castle Ghost and Back to Gaya. His last two films as director is based on a comedy sketch from his TV show that spoof on other sources. In the case of his latest project, Lissi and the Wild Emperor (aka Lissi und der wilde Kaiser in German), its a CG animation that spoof on the Sissi film trilogy, a romantic drama from the 1950's. Here's a brief synopsis from awn.com:
The film will follow an Austrian empress and her husband Franz as they are thrust into hair-raising adventures and torn away from their idyllic life of romantic strolls and royal hunts.
At the official site, you can check out a short teaser under the "Filmrolle" section. It kinda reminds me of Shrek for its character design. I'm really impress with the looks of the animation so color me intrigued. The production of the animation was handle by CA Scanline Production GmbH which also worked on Hui Buh: The Castle Ghost.
Constantin Film plans to release Lissi and the Wild Emperor in Germany on July 19, 2007.
