Those who are interested in watching a documentary regarding a creator of pseudo-snuff material and his works, and/or who are interested in seeing the works themselves, may wish to check out The Complete Works of Dr. Don - Vol. 1: 1998-2000 2-disc DVD set, which includes Todd Russell's documentary A Case of Obscenity - The Case of Her Majesty the Queen vs Don Smith, Canadian FX Artist; it's being sold online by Serial Killers Underground. Donald 'Dr. Don' Smith was prosecuted - "persecuted" may well be a more apt description - for obscenity as a result of having created and distributed some of these works. At the time of his arrest, Smith lived with his wife and children in Woodyatt, Ontario.
BTW, in his Twitch report on S&man, Mathew wrote the following: "It's hard to approach this subject delicately, but the issue debated over S&Man is simply 'Is Eric real? And if not, does this invalidate the film?' In reality, the subissue that I raised here at Twitch was whether, insofar as the S&man series of videos is a hoax orchestrated by J.T. Petty, this "invalidate[s]" his purported documentary S&man as a documentary/non-fiction film. As Todd noted a couple of days ago in the reader comments for the article of mine in question, "The issue is primarily an apparent bait-and-switch in the marketing of the film. If they are claiming that the film is fact based and built around interviews with an actual snuff film maker (which they certainly appear to be doing) when, in fact, they created the snuff films and snuff film maker themselves (which appears to be the case) then it's a question of truth in advertising, though not necessarily with what the film itself is trying to say. [emphasis added]"
