Bizarrely enough people have actually been asking if we're going to be doing this again, and here is your answer you anxious few. Yes.
While circumstances have prevented us from doing our regular pre-Midnight Madness pub evening thus far at TIFF 2006, the stars have aligned and we will once again be getting together for a beverage or two prior to tomorrow night's screening of Black Sheep and anyone who cares to do so is more than welcome to come on by, say hello and enjoy some barley. Here are the details:
Kurt, Mack and I (and quite possibly Opus though not having actually seen him since picking him up from the airport despite the fact that he's been sleeping in my basement I have yet to confirm this) will be upstairs at the Imperial Tavern from about 10:30 to 11:30 dazzling the wait staff with a display of our manly virtues. The Imperial is on the north side of Dundas Street, just east of Yonge, an easy stagger to the Ryerson theater. Look for the very tall, short haired, bespectacled man, bleary eyed from lack of sleep, with tattoos on the neck and both forearms. That'll be me.
Too bad I can't make it out. I would have liked to have joined you again, as last year was a good night out - between chit chat at the Imperial and then SPL, afterward (I do recall that correctly, right? Or was it Great Yokai War? Hmmm...).
The stars were not aligned for me this year - I'm missing out on the whole film festival, which makes me very sad and angry (with myself). I just got a new dog and he's not used to being left alone all that much and we also just moved into a new office, which is needing attention, as well.
Ah well, have fun boys (and girls)! Have one for me!
Very sad news LT. I'll pour some malt on the sidewalk in memory of you.
Thanks Mack. *Throws a 'West Side' hand gesture*
I'll be back next year! By that time, life should have settled down. This year was just not meant to be, I guess.
