Aikawa looks really funny in this trailer.

Nice headsup twitch guys as always, looks a little bit more grim and earthy than his usual hyper real films. Had to laugh at the imdb user who ran the japanese synopsis in babble fish

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0805625/board/nest/52267501

makes about as much sense as the plotline to monkey magic.

He looks like a bitch. This film could be alright.

This looks great. Im as excited about this as I am Waru.
Ever since, Zerbraman, Izo, and his short for 3monster, I have kept Miike in my spotlight. however, I couldn't make it through The Great Yokai War for any reason at all, what utter crap, anyway that's my opinion and i dont mean to offend anyone by it.
He is hit and miss and full of imagination. You can see in this trailer that he is combining different styles of filming. some of it is very surreal with sideways panning and other bits are bouncing all over the place like a modern tv drama.
I like the serious nature of this movie. I hope it takes some good jabs at the complexity of the human condition.

You started with ZEBRAMAN, IZO and BOX? Haha oh wow. Bit late, are you? Anyway, go watch some older Miike stuff. That's where it's really at.

my first exposure to Miike was Audition. I thought it was great!
Ley Lines and Rainy Dog were a decent watch but nothing really special. City of Lost Souls was fairly interesting but ultimately a let-down. I couldn't finish Blues Harp. I couldn't finish Koshonin either. I DID enjoy Ichi The Killer quite a bit. I didn't find enough interest in Sabu to finish that. Gozu had rare moments that captured me, and when it did it was basically at shock value. The Bird People of China was pretty good. I really liked Young Thugs: Nostalgia and count it as one of his very best. The one that I really want to see is Visitor Q.

Have you seen DOA?

If you do see DOA, make sure you stay till the finish. Although it has a crazy opening it becomes much slower after that. But stay till the end, as... well... even thinking about it makes me grin.
