'Dragon Tiger Gate' HK DVD with English Subtitles Is Late September 2006.

(Posted In Action Asia Cult DVD News Drama Martial Arts )

DTG-Yen-Small.jpg>Already seeing a listing on Buyoyo.com for this, though it's marked as 'Standard Edition' (makes sense that there will be a 'Special Edition' then, just not listed yet) and it's given the date of 21st September 2006 - I've also heard the broad 'Late September' and also 'September 27th' mentioned. So, It's late September then. It's released by Deltamatic, as expected. A Chinese Edition is already out there, and having seen the screen grabs it does look pretty impressive, though I am definitely waiting for the HK - subtitled extras are pretty much a given these days.

Hmmm ... missed the chance to see it in the cinemas. Still, I wonder if I should wait for the inevitable Dragon Dynasty edition?

The Deltamac-Website lists the following two versions! No Artwork yet.

DRAGON TIGER GATE (COLLECTOR'S EDITION)

Category: Action

Director: Wilson Yip

Starring: Donnie Yen, Nicholas Tse, Shawn Yue

Synopsis:

Tiger Wong (Nicholas Tse) unwittingly takes Lousha Death Plague, a token decreed by the leader of the Lousha Gate, Shibumi, hence is ambushed by triad gangs. As fate has it, Dragon Wong (Donnie Yen), a bodyguard works for a triad boss, saves Tiger and discovers that Tiger is his brother. Turbo Shek (Shawn Yue), a blonde youth who plays nunchakus, meanwhile, befriends with the brothers in the fierce fight. In the super power showdown and endless killings in the Jiang Hu, only these three back street boys can fight for justice in the community. This film is a tale of heroism and heart-pounding martial arts piece adapted from media magnate Tony Wong Yuk-long¡¦s well-known comic. This sensational action packed film transfuses the spirit of the period style martial arts with a modern touch. Its fights are fantastical yet authentic and innovative; imagery lavish yet realistic.

There ist also a Limited Edition listed on the Deltamac-Website. As the Features are the same as on the Standard Edition and CE, there must be a different packaging! But that's just a guess.

Jesus! already?! The turn-around from theatre to DVD is getting faster and faster! Not that I'm complaining. I heard the action is great.

My wife and I are hard core martial arts fans, and loved Donnie Yen's work in SPL. Donnie's action scenes are very good in this as well, too bad the film sucks. There are long, (and I do mean LONG) stretches where nothing happens. The story is nonsensical, and you'll find yourself drifting off frequently. It's a shame because the film had so much potential. It takes off like a rocket in its first 20 minutes and then plummets rapidly thereafter. The fast forward button was made for films like this....

I LOVED SPL and can't wait to se DTG!!! Donnie Yen is phenominal and deserves much success in this business. I love and miss Bruce Lee so much but Donnie definitely fills the void. I'll watch anything he's in or anything he directs. He's the best!!!

Ok,..I just ordered DTG on Ebay and I can't wait to see it! I'm in Los Angeles and I'm a little ticked off that I can't get certain martial arts films here. I never had that problem when I lived in New York,..what gives?!! I'll let you all know what I think of the movie after I've watched it at least 3 times.lol
