Why the flying, why the flying? I liked Hero and Loved HOFD, But i think this is too much!

Where's the R3 DVD? HK got advance copies of Hero and House of Flying Daggers, why not this one? And I understand this is Sony Pictures, who did Crouching Tiger, and even that was released in HK 6 months prior to US release.

It's still in post, dullboy, going to release simultaneously in Asia and North America.

And too much flying? There's only one flying shot in the whole trailer, when the soldiers rush out and leap down the stairs. How is that too much? It's a staple of wuxia films ...

That was a pretty awful and inept trailer, actually - reminds me of the ones on the Fortune Star/Fox DVDs and it's probably the single worst trailer to ever seep out of Sony Pictures Classics. What idiot decided that we needed TWO sets of title cards, one right after another, to remind us that this movie stars Chow Yun-Fat and Gong Li? And who thought we needed to be told who Chow Yun-Fat and Gong Li were in the first place? If you don't know exactly who Chow Yun-Fat is by now, then you've almost certainly never heard of THE KILLER in the first place. I don't recall them having to stoop to that level to sell CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON. It either looks cool or it doesn't, and you either know who Chow Yun-Fat is or you don't. That trailer wouldn't have even passed muster at Miramax in the bad old days - at least they were interested in telling you what the movie was about, even if they got it kinda wrong. Disheartening that that had a "green band" on it, implying that that piece of shit trailer will actually be seen in the outside world, beyond the Sony website. Why'd they even bother to buy the rights in the first place? If that's the best they could come up with for a movie only a few months from release, then they obviously don't care a damn bit about it. Twenty bucks says we get a cut version, just like we did with KUNG FU HUSTLE and HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS.

The link is a little messed up - you have www.twitchfilm.net in front of it. I think it looks good, but the two sets of cards was more than a little silly. At least we didn't have Mr. Movie Voice giving us an inept and inaccurate synopsis.

I also think it's hilarious that Gong Li's title card had three movies on it, the last of which was Miami Vice.

I think the trailer failed to mention 'Jay Chou'!! This is Jay's second movie after Initial D. And he's extremely popular here in Asia.

I am so sick of American companys starting there movies off with Chow Yun Fat From bla bla bla. They put Gong Li from Memoirs of a Geisha, Raise the Red Lantern, and Miami Vice. I usually don't talk trash about movies i have never seen, but I'm going to today. Memoirs looked so bad i won't even rent it. Raise the Red Lantern i have seen and fell asleep three times during it. The Red Lantern is such a boring arthouse flick you would never expect Hero or House to come from this director. As for Miami Vice, you have got to be kidding me. If they want to use that tag for every american release they put out at least use good ones like Gong Li from The Emperor and the Assassin and 2046. Those are good movies!

I'm just so tired of these wuxia films. They all look the same. Too much overly styliesed wire works and outrageous costumes for my taste.

It's a bad trailer, yes, but overall I agree with Maya. It looks beautiful. I'm just hoping that Yimou's third wuxia film has something approaching a coherent plot.

Curse of the golden armor freaking awesome, why are you all freaking out about it. Cthd is awesome all those chinese flying flicks made by zhang yi mou are good. Especially Hero! That is kinda like their mythical warriors, i'm native american and when i see these types of films it makes me feel good. Because native's have myths so dont pick on this movie until you've actually seen and if you don't like these types of films don't say it, it just ruins the tone, lata.

I saw it in Bejing. Its amazing.. but NOT a martial arts film.
