Shooting began Sunday for Stephen Chow's next film, Yangtze River 7. The filming took place at a school and very few pictures were taken as there was a lot of secrecy shrouding the set. Staff of the school signed strict confidentiality agreements and infrared scanners were set up to thwart intruders. Several children were bused in and out from the school, including the little gaffer to the left.
Chow has also said that he is confident that Yangtze River 7 will do better than Kung Fu Hustle in the box office when it opens next summer. Kung Fu Hustle racked in 170 million yuan in China last year.
The release of Yangtze River 7 will happen 1 year before the next of China's Shenzhou spacecrafts. The eighth satellite will be sent into orbit one year following.
Oh. And on an odd note. I can't remember for the life of me where I found it but Chow up to this point has been pretty mum on the film, the script is still undergoing revisions apparently. But he did say something about a dinosaur at a press conference. Uh. Erm. I can't tell if he's pulling our leg on that one. Don't know how that fits in with the picture. Oh, and Lam Chi-Chung, Chow's sidekick from Kung Fu Hustle, will play a Kung Fu master, according to reports. Again, this sounds all over the map. Too early to tell though. We anticipate its release.
