Toronto After Dark Is A Lock!

The program for the Toronto After Dark Film Festival is locked and, as of five minutes ago, the program guide is written. For those not in the know Toronto After Dark is the new genre festival launching this year that I've programmed and while I can't spill titles just yet - half of the slate will be announced August 29th, the remaining titles in September - I can't keep entirely quiet about it, now can I? So here's the skinny:

We've got thirteen films representing seven countries: four from Japan, four from the USA and one each from Hong Kong, Germany, Sweden, Thailand and the Netherlands. Two Canadian premieres, one North American premiere and two International premieres, meaning these two films have never been screened outside their country of origin. All are first time screenings in Toronto. We've got multiple varieties of the undead, talking dogs and stacks of raw beef. We've got an aging Star Trek star gettin' some. We've got giant snakes, mental illness and heads bisected by shovels. We've got serial killers, anal probing, and sexually voracious foliage. We've got superheroes, cannibalism and nuclear apocalypse. Yes, boys and girls, we've got all the good stuff.

If you've not taken a swing by the Toronto After Dark website recently, now would be a good time. Not only can you sign up to be notified once we can - and do - start announcing titles, but pass information went up today, and you can now sign up to win free passes to the Rue Morgue Festival of Fear.
