Tagging on Wolf's report the other day a supposed storyline has emerged for the movie that will bring together two modern day martial arts legends, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. Dubbed The J&J Project for now the movie will be "about a modern day kung fu master accidentally travels back to the ancient China and meets the Monkey King". If you're like me and you're not up to snuff on your anicient Chinese novels "The Monkey King is a character from classic Chinese novel Journey to the West. He single handily pillages the heaven, punished by the Buddha, then becomes a disciple and guardian of Tang Monk, and escorts him to the west to seek Buddhist texts, with two other disciples, Pigsy and Sandy".
It sounds sketchy at best. The recent report included a statement from Jackie that the film was going to be more geared towards a western audience, "It will be more American-style. It will be more suited to foreign audiences than Chinese audiences," he said. "If you make a Hollywood movie, of course you have to follow their wishes. They're paying us so much money." So I don't know why you would make a movie based from ancient Chinese novels. That could be just me though. Of course we love jumping all sorts of news about anything lest it be warrented or true even. The prospect of seeing Jackie and Jet take to the screen together, perhaps ten years too late even, makes us giddy like school girls.

The Monkey King stories are so much fun! But most adaptations have only been silly. Hopefully, a more western style approach to these stories will be something with a little more respect to a fantasy setting that's popular in western cinema these days, a la Lord of the Rings and such.
oh hell nah! not a story about monkichi! Jet Li will be sifu and Jackie Sien-woo-kong. The only true monkey kang is Stephen Chou! Don't let this be da myth part deux.
Jet will make a kickass Monk Tang, tho I can also see him as monkey king(aka Fong sai yuk). I hope this movie will not be like those lame movies in vein of Shanghai Knights, Around the world in 80 days, blah..
OK, the story seems lame, but it has potential to be good. Much like a lot of Hong Kong TV shows. I hope they come up with something better, though.
I heard from a very reliable source, that it's going to be Twins meets the Monkey King mythos. In my opinion, a very wise choice.
jackie chan needs some botox to play twins. Everything we hear is from Jackie mouth, after the drunken incident, I don't belive him any more.
Should be fun movie to watch as long as they avoid the doing the same of around the world in 80 days and shanghai nights, and make a more serious movie, it should be fun to watch. on another note, i cant wait to watch two legends filming together, and as for the people giving jackie chan stick, to those insecure asian people, which makes up the minority of course, but since you make alot of noise, are pissed cos jackie chan seems to be making silly movies as goofy, and thinks it makes you look bad are totally out of your mind. I'm Asian myself and i love jackie chan, after all he's the bravest action actor ever, nearly died doing some of his earlier films so no contest and now jet li acting with him will be too good to miss.
