Website and Teaser For Norweigian Survival Horror Fritt Vilt

(Posted In Continental Europe and Russia Film News Horror Trailer Alert )

frittvilt.jpgA teaser trailer has turned up online for Norweigian survival horror film Fritt Vilt and it looks like impressive stuff, combining some beautiful photography (of some rather attractive Viking lasses) with a dark, gritty edge. Here's the synopsis from the Norweigian Film Institute:

It’s midwinter. Five youngsters are heading for the Jotunheimen mountain area to go snowboarding. On the slope, one of them has a bad fall and breaks a leg. There is no sign of any other people around, and their mobile phones are out of range. They catch sight of a mountain hotel in the distance, and decide to find shelter there. The hotel lies emtpy and silent, obviously closed down years ago. The phone lines are dead, and the youngsters realize they have to spend the night in the hotel. But it turns out they’re not alone. In the basement they discover a filthy dungeon of a room, where somebody has recently lived. They find a pile of polaroid photos, which by closer inspection prove to be very different from regular vacation photos... What follows is a battle of life and death, when Norway’s most notorious and determined serial killer plays cat and mouse with the youths. And while their number is diminishing, friendship and courage is put to the test in this roller¨coaster ride of a horror

"their mobile phones are out of range" HAHA, it's always either that or the film is set in the 70ies to avoid the problem of those pesky cells entirely. I wonder what filmmakers will do once the providers fix that problem with stronger transmitters or more satellites or whatever. I guess they could still have the cell break.

Another Norwegian horror movie set in a remote location solved that problem by having the protagonists go on one of those team bonding trips where they had to leave modern luxuries like mobiles at home.

I hope this movie will be good.

I think it was in cry_wolf, the villain used one of his victim's cell phones to track down other victims in the woods, by calling them and following the ringing sound. So the cell phone isn't a complete foil.

I've seen an unfinished test version of this film, and it's a strong genre flick. A very solid, old school slasher that plays it straight (no tired Scream ironies) and entertains. The cast is pretty great, as well.

cry_wolf is hardly the kind of film I wish to see more of

I've tried translating the title to English, although it has several possible meanings (you can use it as a metaphor too).

"Fritt vilt" would most likely be the equivalent of "Fair Game" (where "game" in this instance refers to wild animals, not "playing"). This is the most direct translation.

"Fritt Vilt" can be translated into hunted/chased animals, animals beeing a metaphor for people.

I believe it will be really entertaining, and more original than you first believe when you read the synopsis. I'm looking forward to this one.

Hehe:P I've been at that hotel. It's not a scary place, it's actually very cozy:P But I bet it'll look very different in the movie. I can't wait to see it! :D

i was there when we were filming... and it was sceary then. im shure it was lovely when you were there though. its a beautifull place!
and about the mobile. its totally realisic in the norvegian mountagnes that your cellphone doesnt work. it didnt at all up where we were filming it, and that was in a hotell... well sometimes if you left your mobile at a special spot on table 23 in the cantine you might get a txt now and then if you were lucky...

I just came home from the movie like 15 minutes ago. And i'm still shaking. It was really good. Haven't got that scared in ages. The sound effects where awesome. But the intro was actually pretty dull, too happy. But other than that, awesome movie all together.

This movie is really scary and the best made in Norway in years. Of course had premiere on Friday 13th of October. After one week it has been so a really success so it could be Fritt Vilt 2 and 3 in the future. A lot of Hollywood movie companies have already called the "Fritt Vilt" movie company to ask after the movie rights to make a Hollywood remake version. Of course set up the movie on cinemas in United Stetes in cubtitled version included DVD about 4-5 months. Fritt Vilt is a top scary horror movie like I Still Know What Tou Did Last Summer meeting The Shining. The book on the reception desk in the movie Fritt Vilt is of course The Shining with the undeadly fantastic movie scene picture of Jack Nicholson.
