Since it's not entirely clear, there seems to be a shift in Geneon USA's policies and were starting to get some live action stuff released Stateside. The first two I can spot in a regular run are 'Tetsujin 28' (regarded as a little disappointing, people are generally familiar with this one) and 'Last Quarter' (been out everywhere by now, also heavily covered, stars Chiaki Kuriyama from 'Kill Bill').
More importantly though, there's four releases throughout August 2006, starting with 'All About Our House' [See IMDB for a Review]- now, this one's is worth singling out (as are the others, hope to get through those this week) as Director Koki Mitani [See Wikipedia] is the man behind the upcoming film 'The Uchoten Hotel' (one of Japans big hits this year) which we're linking into YesAsia for the Subtitled R2 Japanese DVD of (due very early August also), and he is also the man behind the Koji Yakusho hit comedy form a couple of years back,'University of Laughs', which is also highly rated. Yes, this did recently come out with English Subtitles in Japan, but for the sake of a cheaper release and because were greatful Geneon USA is apparently listening to the appetite for the stuff they could release, you get this post - fingers crossed for the other recent reissue in Japan, 'Radio No Jikan' ('Welcome Back Mr.McDonald') to appear in America soon also.
Synopsis for 'All About Our House' from Geneon USA site, "...the home reflects the person who built it. Naosuke and his wife Tomiko set out to build their dream home. They're looking for something visionary and unique, so they turn to Mr. Yanagisawa, a slightly eccentric, unlicensed architect fixated on American classic design. However, they must use Tomiko's conservative father to obtain the proper permits and do the actual building of the house. It's war on the home front with two such determined men debating every little detail down to the last nail. Will this dream house ever become a reality?". [Source : Geneon}.
I'm confused. The cover doesn't look atrocious. It seems to be aimed at a reasonably intelligent audience. What the hell? Can we bribe Geneon to buy ADV?
