One of 2006's major surprises was Kim Seung-Woo turning into... an actor? It seemed like for the last 7-8 years, Kim only fit with comedies, as whenever he tried to distance from that genre, results proved to range from the disappointing to the embarrassing. But then came 2006.
First it was the interesting Drama 내 인생의 스페셜 (The Special of My Life), then Hong Sang-Soo's 해변의 여인 (Woman on the Beach), and now this. It might have changed its title from 보고싶은 얼굴 (The Face I Miss) to 연애, 그 참을 수 없는 가벼움 (The Unbearable Lightness of Loving), but this is still Kim Hae-Gon's debut film, whose screen play won so much acclaim for most of the last 6-7 years. And when you add Jang Jin-Young of 청연 (Blue Swallow) to the mix, then this is bound to turn into quite the interesting film.
Judging by Kim's past works as a writer and his attitude working, this is likely to be very nasty, hard hitting, heavy on the swearing and (perhaps) on the sex. The script is obviously there, the actors too, now we'll see how Kim adapts to his new role as director. Release is set for September.

Looks fun. I'm always game for movies with a cute "Sassy Girl" style female lead. I've been thinking of checking out another Jang Jin-Young after seeing Blue Swallow, and this looks like it'll hit the spot. Also thinking of checking out Singles and The Foul King which also feature Jang Jin-Young.
