Eh... The manga is good, but it drags drags drags, then suffers from an ending that could never live up to the setup. A good Deathnote film would take the concept and rehaul it, tighten it up into something stronger and almost completely different.

This movie is already a hit, I think, and it hasn't even come out yet, has it? I love the manga for it and i never got to read much of it. Just to maybe the 6th or 7th I think. They did GREAT on recreating Ryuk, and that was the biggest thing they could have messed up on. If they didn't make Ryuk look good, then the movie would have been a disaster. I'm impressed, and can't wait untill it gets to America. I'd still watch it in Japanese, I'm still entertained even though I don't understand it!!^_^

I do hope it gets to Britain soon! I adore the manga (although Near sucks >. Ryuk really is pretty good. They could have messed up so badly on that, but they didn't.
I imagined L different to that. Weird. Like, more eyeliner or something... kinda 'emo' without the emo clothes.
L rawkles. ^-^

I just recently watched the movie and reckon its great XD The person as L can really pick up his character, although I have to say Misa doesn't suit her role.

Other than that I can't wait for the second part to come out~

this was a fantastic film!!

I watched the film before anime or manga, then watched the anime. I must say the anime is much more easier to understand how L and Light keep findign otu whats going on, and there isnt that twist about teh girlfriend.

Most films alter the appearance of digital grapic characters on the movie so it will be easier to control, but they kept Ryuk to his original self, detail and all.

10/10, and L certainly does eat alot of sweets. :)
