CANFIELD REVIEWS WHY WE FIGHT REGION ONE DVD

Beginning with Eisenhower’s famed end of Term speech Why We Fight makes a good case that any thinking person should be concerned about these issues not because they are emotionally compelling and make for good cinema but because the very survival of our republic may well depend on our ability to leave behind the hubris that made these institutions such a driving force in our national identity.

Why We Fight isn't about conspiracies although it does explore the fear mongering that keeps the war machine greased. Instead Eugene Jarecki takes a multifaceted look at the money trail that extends into virtually every aspect of the American economy and how it drives politicians who, fearful of voter rejection, maintain a hands off policy in policing the activities of IMC.

The bottom line that seems a fair assessment is that those who have much should realize much is expected of them. Those who watch over us, and those who have the purse strings have left millions without healthcare, without access to good education etc. A man may be required to work with what he has in order to succeed, but he should not have to work against his fellows merely to survive. Should we allow the military to exist as a sort of "American dream" for those who are disadvantaged economically?

I have no doubt that someday a radiation proof time capsule, buried many miles below the destruction will be opened to reveal copies of The Corporation, Bowling for Columbine, Fog of War, The Control Room, and Why We Fight. may history have mercy on our souls and may Canada keep it's doors open.
