Saw this last weekend, opening day, actually enjoyed it more than expected. Not too many movies can pull off a good manga-to-bigscreen job like this. Lot of differences between the two, but doesn't ruin anything. Some of the changes really work in the movies' favor. Part 2 "The Last Name"? The first movie didn't advance the story very far, interested to see how far the second will take it.
Number one at the box-office, by the way...
That's pretty impressive. Must be a wide release, then. In how many theaters is it playing?
Oh and what does this "ROADSHOW" thing mean that I'm seeing in Japanese trailers all the time?
"roadshow" is a term all over trailers and posters, i think it means thats when the films starts showing and that it travels over the weeks which follow, so your local date/time will be sometime following that... i often see films showing eternally and the dates/ times listed on official sites : for instance, 'eli eli' was showing until recently i think.
This looks like it might actually pull off the anime to film translation- does anyone know if this trailer is for both films or just the first one?
So.. it needs some kind of out of the ordinary story in order to be a good adaptation of the manga? I thought Nana was one of the best manga to film adaptations..
Also.. I hate Tatsuya Fujiwara.
Doopliss, I second your opinion of Fujiwara. He's too much of a girl to pull off a good Yagami Light. But the rest of the cast is awesome, L's mannerisms are pulled off perfectly and Ryuuk is exactly how you'd picture him from the manga. The trailers are only from the first film, by the way.
At which point in the comic did Light Yagami seem like a macho man? He kind of looks girlish in the illustrations and I thought that Fujiwara would be really good in it.
do you guys live in Japan or visit there just for the movie or something, because I'm in America, and I know we haven't got the movie over here.
I am looking foward to this film if it ever hits western shelves. I have finished (recently) the manga series and I am eagerly anticipating the film. I just hope the film does not stray too far from the manga plotline and timeline. Doing so only aggrivates me.
Okay, totally want to see this movie so bad that I can taste it. I want to know when it's going to come to the US, whether in the theaters or straight to DVD because I'm seriously dying to see this movie, please someone tell me
