Martial Arts Director Lau Kar-Leung prepares for his Kung Fu Masterpiece: Heroes of Shaolin

Oh man, I REALLY hope that this turns out well. Lau Kar-Leung is one of my favorite kung fu directors ever, but the last movie he directed wasn't so hot. But I have faith! Come on, Kar-Leung! You can show these young whipper-snappers how a MA flick is REALLY done!

I'll second an enthusiastic vote for hoping this all comes out well. And if that cast is anything beyond mere speculation....whew! My fingers are crossed yet again...

Gimme Donnie Yen ..and NO Zhang ZiYI please!!
Am i the only one who think Donnie Yen is better than Jet Li and Zhang ZiYi is overrated..?

my smart-ass prediction: no matter the quality of the resulting film, The Weinsteins will buy it and mess it up and/or shelve it and Zhang Ziyi will be forced into it since she's in too many things anyway. Love the Lau Kar Leung, wish him the best, but expect the worst.

(Yes, Donnie Yen is criminally underrated -- I still can't see why he's not a bigger star in the West. I even think he's more of a hunky type now that he's older.)

A new movie by Lau Kar-Leung. Hooray!

Even when the film's a bit lacking, as has been the case with his last couple of movies, it's just good to see him doing his thing.

I hope they can raise enough of a budget to do it justice. If they can get Chow Yun-Fat and Zhang Ziyi, that will make it a hell of a lot easier. But that seems a bit expensive, unless this Michael Parrella guy who's producing it has some really deep pockets. Hopefully he does.

Surprised that the article doesn't mention that not only is Gordon Liu attached to this, but he's (allow me to cut and paste from the linked Burning Shaolin Productions site) "reprising the role he portrayed in Kill Bill Vol. 2 as the treacherous White-Browed Taoist Monk Bak Mei (Pai Mei)."

That put a big grin on my face.

wow, gordon lui as white brow again, that is indeed good news. chow yun fat is a great actor, but zhang ziyi is too overrated. but i wouldn't mind seein' her in this film. i'm a big fan of donnie yen, if he's in it, i'll be seein' this. too bad he can't reprise his role as Hung-Hei Koon so he can battle white brow. loves his hung-gar style. tony jaa is amazing, put him and donnie yen, i love to see Lau Kar-Leung clash them together. if anythin' throw in wu jing while we're at it.

Yeah Lau Kar-Leung's last movie starred Wu Jing so hopefully he'll bring him back.

haha, what a bold statement. Last time I remember 'Seven Swords' stinks. The older some people get, the less humility they have.

Seven Swords was not a Lau Kar-Leung-directed movie.

And considering that he is one of the greatest kung fu filmmakers ever, he can say whatever the hell he wants to say.

And by the way the coreographies for Seven Swords are awesome, as it is the movie.

looks like a random list of names throw in for convenience sake. chow yu fat should never do another kong fu movie after terrible bullet proof monk; ziyi zhang is overrated and overexposed; don't tell me tony jaa can pretend to be a chinese doing hung gar with his elbows; i'd rather watch dry paint than donnie yen act.

Thanks for all the positive feedback regarding the new movie. As the producer, I can tell you all that we'll doing the fans some 'old school justice' along with a great story, LGL's incredible Kung-Fu and more updated cinematography.

We do not intend to make a 70/80's Shaw Bros. movie all over again. This will be fresh, new but still classic LGL.

Kau Kar Leung is the best MA choreographer, PERIOD!

Who cares what the weinstiens or whoever do? The value is in seeing the masters at work.

This story should have been done by him a long time ago. I just wish the Hou Yuan Chia movie would have been done by Master Lau.
