8th_plague_cap01.jpgYesterday (June 6th) in a blog entry on his MySpace webpage, DJ Perry wrote the following with regard to Franklin Guerrero Jr.'s The 8th Plague: "I am just back from finishing filming on 'The 8th Plague.' We just did some pick up shots before our fall release. It will either be late Oct. or more likely early Nov. and having seen the rough cut.....BAD ASS. That is if you like all the blood and mayhem." It appears that Anthem Pictures will be releasing the movie on DVD in the U.S..

As was previously reported here on Twitch, the screenplay for The 8th Plague was written by Eric Williford. The movie apparently stars (DJ) Perry as Mason, Leslie Valenza (a.k.a. Leslie Anne) as Launa, Syn DeVil as Deanne, Terry Jernigan as Buck, Paul Bugelski as Deputy Stiver, Jonathan Rockett as Gavin, Hollis Zemany as Crystal, Laura Chaves as Nikki, Bryant Sullivan as Ted, and Ray Nikolaison as Curtis.

Here's a description of The 8th Plague from the official website for the movie: "'The 8th Plague' is an experiment in fear, tapping into the primal emotions of the human psyche, emotions that have not been rattled since American audiences were first exposed to such films as 'The Evil Dead', 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre', and 'The Exorcist'. ¶ 'The 8th Plague' is the terrifying story of a woman named Launa investigating the disappearance of her sister, Nikki. The search leads her to an abandoned prison named Halcyon Ridge Correctional Facility, hidden in an obscure, isolated mountain town. Upon entering the stone and steel walls, she discovers an ancient evil that had been lying dormant until its recent disturbance. Subsequently, she learns the terrible truth about the impending plague of darkness that intends to spread and reclaim the world."

Franklin Guerrero Jr. (a.k.a. Franqui Guerrero) previously directed the thriller Lackluster Syndrome.

I agree. It's straight to DTV Hell for this one.

Those 'theatrical' trailers are way too long and have no impact whatsoever. It feels like i have seen both films instead of being motivated to go see them.

Funny that these are called theatrical trailers since none of them will ever see the light of day in a cinema.

Wow... crappy.

Note to the film makers: Please don't mention titles like The Evil Dead, Texas Chainsaw, or the Exorcist when tell prospective audiences how great your film is. It only makes your film look worse than it already is. Now if someone had said, hey there's this kinda crappy movie, but it has a few good parts in it, I might be interested just because of the honesty. But as it is, the trailer SCREAMS crappiness, while the filmmakers spout off about their imaginary grandure. Count me out.
