A Trailer For Azur et Asmar!

(Posted In Animation Continental Europe and Russia Film News Sci-Fi / Fantasy )
Finally, we get to see all those gorgeous images in motion!

A teaser for Azur et Asmar, the latest from Kirikou director Michel Ocelot, has turned up online and it is every bit as impressive as the stills suggested it would be, though I was a little surprised by the blending of 2D and 3D textures. With this film Ocelot moves away from continental Africa and into Arabic folklore while also making the switch from cel animation to CGI. The choice to have Kirikou introduce and narrate the trailer is understandable but unfortunate as it simply doesn't fit the visuals at all, but there's plenty to love in those visuals ...

Somebody get this and Kirikou And The Wild Beasts to these shores, stat.

"I was a little surprised by the blending of 2D and 3D textures"

? Textures are always 2D. Did you mean 2D and 3D models?

The Facets disc is Kirikou and the Sorceress, which I have and love, though the US disc aint so hot. The one I want is Kirikou and the Wild Beasts.
