Website and Trailer For UK Sci-Fi Actioner Displaced

(Posted In Action Film News Martial Arts Sci-Fi / Fantasy Trailer Alert UK / Ireland / Australia / New Zealand )
Quick! Name a British action film not involving James Bond! While you're at it, name a British martial artist! Don't know about you but I certainly couldn't do it off the top of my head. Which brings us to Displaced, an independent British sci-fi actioner with a hefty dose of martial arts. There's no disguising that this is a low budget job but there looks to be some reasonably good talent on display in the action sequences and they managed to get Ian McKellan - or at least his voice - on board, so they must be doing something right ...

wow. this looks like a low budget riff on metal gear solid by way of across the pond confusion.

side note: hideo kojima is perhaps tehgayest designer of video games (evar). openly so, and i love him for it. seriously. metal gear solid 3: snake eater. just the name alone gets me laughing. you know it to be true. back to this displaced thing. it looks painful, but curiously watchable. something about shoddy dv camera work, over the top acting, and confused blender economy of genre cliche gets my 'get drunk and loaded and invite some easy to amuse friends over for a bout of beat up the b-movie' vibe.

Well, at least the part with the dancing ladies was good :P

It looks to cheesy, even for my taste, and the MA (in the trailer at least) didn't get me all that excited. Plus if they make a low budget fightmovie, please DON'T make a sci fi like this, with 'aliens' and all :o.

With the advances in DV over th past 5 years, there's really no excuse at this point to have a film look like it was shot with your mum's camcorder.

Wow...choosing to shoot that on DV was a horrible idea. I hope those shots are going through some serious treatment, because that stuff looks more digital than our movie...and we only had a budget of 5 grand.

this movie looks retarded, especially shot on DV and especially when a movie shows a forest action scene. Forest action scenes alway scream "amateur!" It could have looked better if this was shot professionally. DV action movies just don't work.
