Probably the last director in Korea to truly believe in 'traditional' horror, Ahn Byung-Gi is back with his latest entry in the field, 아파트 (A.P.T.). What changed between 분신사바 (Bunshinsaba) and now is that Ahn has also become a producer, trying to 'cultivate' some new talents through the horror series 어느날 갑자기 - 4주간의 공포 (4 Horror Stories), which will feature four HD horror films (all produced by Ahn, with mostly first timers directing) all to be released this Summer. And of course that one of the biggest names of the 90s, Go So-Young, has come back to Chungmuro after a few years of rest (mostly spent becoming even more the queen of CF).
Loosely based on a hugely popular online manhwa by Kangpool (from which most of the Jang Jin-esque humour has been taken off), A.P.T. stars Go as a woman slowly finding out why prices of the apartment complex 'next door' are not exactly Gangnam-level: there's murders pretty often, all happening at the same time, when the lights go out. Whooo... scary.
This and the Song Yoon-Ah/Lee Dong-Wook thriller 아랑 (Arang) are the first two contenders in this year's Summer Horror field, but we'll see if they'll be able to produce better results than last year's crop. In the meantime, here's a look at the A.P(ar).T(ment).
Theatrical Trailer (Streaming, 700k, Windows Media)

Get Net Transport.
wots that?
that... looks good.
Smaller version of this trailer, please.
I've been secretly interested in this since the first posters and production shots went online..okay moreso the chick! Looks okayish..love the posters.
This movie is based on Gang-pool's weekly cartoon "A.P.T." at daum.net that was so popular with young Korean. After this movie, we probably will watch another story on next year of which title is "Timing" The story is so unique that I think.
Most of all, many filmmakers are interesting Gang-pool's another cartoons that are supposed to put on the screen, too.
Those annoying screeching metal sounds in the trailer made me cringe. I dont think I'll be seeing this if annoying sound effects like that are in the movie..
