Thanks to Twitch reader Matthias Deubel for bringing to my attention the fact that a third downloadable trailer for Shinji Higuchi's Sinking of Japan (Nihon chinbotsu) has been added to the official website for the movie.
The screenplay for Sinking of Japan was written by Masato Katô, based on the science-fiction books Nippon chinbotsu (ue) and Nippon chinbotsu (shita) by Sakyô Komatsu. (Shirô Moritani's 1973 classic Submersion of Japan (Nippon chinbotsu) was likewise based on those books.) The movie's principal cast is as follows (listed order corresponds to website order): Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, Kou Shibasaki (a.k.a. Kô Shibasaki), Mitsuhiro Oikawa, Mayuko Fukuda, Hideko Yoshida, Akira Emoto, Jun Kunimura, Kôji Ishizaka, Etsushi Toyokawa, and Mao Daichi.
Toho Co. Ltd. (Tôhô K.K.) is scheduled to release Sinking of Japan theatrically in Japan on July 15th.

Jason Gray: Report on the world première of Sinking of Japan
A big big thank you to Matthias Deubel for this one. Can't wait to see the whole movie!
Wow! The movie actually looks better than I thought. I still fear that the storyline may not match up with the impressive SFX (just look at what happened with "Poseidon") but the trailer is definitely very nice especially the passing glimpse from space of Japan slowly sinking. I hope "Nihon Chinbostu" finds its way to Region 2 DVD by year's end if not sooner.
Looks kick ass! The 2 lead actors (Shibasaki and Kusanagi) are very good and the little girl in the supporting cast (Fukuda) is a great actress in her own right. If the script isn't complete crap (and the review leads me to believe it's actually pretty good) I don't think the story will suffer. I hope this does better than Lorelei or Yamato.
Don't forget Minoru Kawasaki's Everyone Other Than Japan Sinks. I still can't believe it actually exists, but god, I hope it does.
I loved this movie. The theme song is perfect too.
