Jackie Chan and Jet Li project happening?

For the longest time, fans of both Jackie and Jet have been asking when will these two great action star team up for a movie. There have been talks in the past only to end up to be just that. All talk and no follow through. What is preventing them from working together is either they are unable to find time in their busy schedule to collaborate or they are unable to reach a compromise on the script. Well, it seems a plan is finally set in motion for a Jackie and Jet project according to the Associated Press:

The stars have signed on to do a movie tentatively named the "J&J Plan," the Chinese news Web site Sina.Com said on Tuesday. They're still brainstorming about the plot for their first collaboration, which begins filming next year, the Web site said. A formal announcement and pre-sales will be made at the Cannes Film Festival, which starts tomorrow and ends May 28, the report said. Publicists for Chan and Li did not immediately respond to calls from The Associated Press seeking comment.

Kath found the above from the Associated Press, but the news was in all of the Hong Kong papers as well. For years now, many producers have tried to put the two superstars together in a movie and both Jet and Jackie liked the idea very much. (There is a Chinese proverb which says "It takes a hero to know another hero.") However, at this point, although both Jackie and Jet have agreed to a project, no date has been set and a script has not been finalized.

Let's keep our fingers crossed and who knows? Let's hope there will be a Jet Li/Jackie Chan project as soon as possible!
