YES!!!
Actually not as many films as last year, when they ran all day. That's when I saw Spider Forest, Hypnotized and A Moment to Remember.
I will try to see as many as I can - but would appreciate any recommendations, so I make sure those screenings get priority!
Oh, and at the last festival they were serving free Korean food! ; ) Here's hoping..
All For Love, Art of Fighting and Rules of Dating come highly recommended by me. None of them perfect, all of them more than worth watching.
Gah, yet another event down the bottom of the country.
Thanks Rooks! - will try check em out.
Will try & see as many as possible, but being at Leicester Square it'll be full of people who will see a line & join it for the hell of it, regardless of their interest in Korean film - esp. if they get a sniff of the word 'free' ; )
Where you based btw?
Were the screenings full last year? Just wondering if it's worth making the journey up to London on the off chance of getting in...
Strange - second half of my comment got eaten. I don't remember saying any naughty words...
...anyway, I'm in Derby, and considering various things to do with myself over summer break. ;) I'd be willing to make the journey if I stood a chance of getting in, I guess. Probably hit my brother up for accomodation if he's feeling generous.
Yeh, all screenings I went too were full house! Thing is last year they had more movies, and as soon as you came out one screening, there was already a huge line for the next. I got lucky and made a korean friend who saved me a place on a couple of screenings.. but not so sure wether its worth a long journey or not, considering they're just showing a screening or two in the evenings (ok for me as I'll be working the days).
Good atmosphere last year tho, as I said - free food (inside), free posters, TV crews.. I had fun.
It'd be a couple of hours getting down there, tops, I think. Not too much effort. The hard part would be deciding when to leave in order to end up standing outside the Prince Charles for the optimum amount of time, since my brother doesn't live IN London, so I wouldn't be meeting him and then heading into the city. :) I doubt I'd be looking to go to more than one screening anyway, though I suppose it'd be a possibility.
Gummo, you can go safe on all these. Not too hot on Art of Fighting, but the rest all look good.
Surprised My Scary Girl is traveling already. Is it the strange mix of genres (thriller, melodrama and romcom) or what? Comedy doesn't look like it'll translate too well, but the dialogue is priceless and the leads are awesome.
Hey X - That's good to know, thanks!
Well, that's my evenings for next week sorted then. ; )
Hey, good evening all of you! my name is Tae-Min, OH director of the 4th London Korean Festival 2006 and managing director of CNE-CULTURE&ENTERTAINMENT LTD in london. Well...first of all...im very sorry for the long queue. that's because we can not have a tickets in advance from PCC. Last year's film festival was very successful but actually that was my first job to run a film festival :) this year most of work was done by CJ Entertainment and us. even if we haven't got enough prints, hey, don't be too angry for that. i hope we can make a better festival for 2007 but it's really depends on sponsors mind, i say......very sad but true. mind you, even if it is so difficult to get enough fund, i will do my best to make a better festival. Well. first thing i have to do is...making a booking system, right? Wish me a good luck for we have got many events are coming, i hope to see you all in my web site as well. there is a link to london korean festival 2006.
just right before i hand over my data for web site and guide book to designer, we had berglar in our office, and we lost 3 lap tops and one ext.hard drive with full of full of full of data. it was really hell!!!!! but we managed it, Thanks God!, but our web site lanching was very delayed.
Thanks very much again for all of you, and i wish...the weather is good for some of you guys will make a long queue....I am terribly sorry for that :(
bye for now!
-London Korean Festival-
berglar? i mean....burglar.....lack of sleep....you know that, don't you!
Hi Taemin!
The queue is just a fact of life, and not a problem - i'm certainly not complaining, it is a free festival after all!
I have to say last year was fantastic - I really had a great time, and look forward to attending this year too.
Thanks so much for bringing such a great event to London!
It was first day of CJ London Korean Festival. Even if it was rainy day today, PCC was packed with audience who made a long queue!!
Thanks very much for your support and for your kind understanding.
I was waiting for 4 prints from UDINE Far East Film Festival, Italy. But was delayed today. so we had to swap our opening film and closing film.
well....I'm getting tired now....I think I'd better go back to my sofa and have some rest...for tomorrow....
bye for now...
tae Min
I would like to thank Taemin for all his hard work. I have worked with him for two years as PR manager for the festival and like he says, it is difficult when you rely so much on the sponsors. He has worked so hard to try and please everyone and he has been a fantastic boss. Hopefully we will have a similar festival next year with more great films.
I am in the process of reviewing the films on my website (www.koreanfilm.org.uk). I didnt get to see all of them as i was busy with everything, but I got to see most of them, so I will try and post them ASAP. Philip Gowman has also put some questions on his site so you can say what you think about the festival. http://www.londonkoreanlinks.net/index_files/LKFsurvey.htm. The results will then be given to Tae min and I so we can make a better festival next year.
Take care...
jase
I would like to thank all those involved in the Korean film Festival, for all their hard work and dedication to making such a memorable event.
I managed to catch 5 films overall..Princess Aurora, The Rules Of Dating, The Art Of Fighting, My Scary Girl and Love Is A Crazy Thing. As last year, the movies were great, the staff wonderful - all helpful and extremely cheerful.. as were the crowd, all of which helped create the great atmosphere despite the sometimes damp weather! I also loved the free bits handed out to the people in line - very useful for my planned vacation to Seoul.
Thank you very much guys! I had a blast, and will be seeing you next year!
Thanks to Taemin for his hard work on the festival, and to Jase for his PR efforts. As Jase mentioned, if you good people have a moment, fill out the survey here:
http://www.londonkoreanlinks.net/index_files/LKFsurvey.htm
As it happens, from the feedback I received so far this site was a good source of publicity for the festival, so many thanks to the webmasters here.
