ghost_train.jpgAn English-subtitled trailer for Takeshi Furusawa's Ghost Train (Otoshimono) - a.k.a. "Sharyô" (working title) - has just been added to ShochikuFilms.com - the English-language website of Shochiku Co. Ltd. (Shôchiku K.K.).

The screenplay for Ghost Train was written by Furusawa, in collaboration with Erika Tanaka. The movie stars Erika Sawajiri, Chinatsu Wakatsuki, Shun Oguri, Aya Sugimoto, Itsuji Itao, and Miyoko Asada.

Here's a synopsis for Ghost Train from the page for the movie on ShochikuFilms.com: "On her way to school, high school girl Nana sees a train accident. But this is just the beginning of the nightmare that awaits her. Nana and her friend Kanae come across various bizarre phenomena, including red fingerprints and a female spirit who 'lives' on the station platform. One day, Nana's younger sister is lost, and the only possibility seems to be that she had been taken by these spirits. The missing tracks. The predictions that a mysterious woman makes. Weird incidents which happen one after another. Entangled series of frights and mysteries lead to a shocking climax."

Shochiku plans to release Ghost Train theatrically in Japan in September.

Sugimoto previously starred in such movies as Hajime Hashimoto's Yakuza Wives: Burning Desire (Gokudô no onna-tachi: jôen), Takashi Ishii's Flower and Snake 2: Paris/Shizuko (Hana to hebi 2: Pari/Shizuko), and Ishii's Flower and Snake (Hana to hebi).

I'll be watching it for the lead actress alone, Erika Sawajiri is a little hottie, and a great actress to boot. She was outstanding in the TV Drama 1 Litre of Tears.

Coincidentally I feel the same as above, the movie seem to be that of a stylised critical Japanese Genre of horror moviemaking which leaves that audience fulfilled entertained and mostly scared and terrified. Yes, Erika is amazing and I wonder if anyone can suggest any other films she is in. I must see this film by all means necessary. Timothy Ijoyemi.
