The third and final in the trilogy (and due to open in December 2006 in Japan) that started with 'The Twiligh Samurai' and continued with 'The Hidden Blade', and written by the same man.
As Mack said late last year, " It follows the relationship between a young samurai who loses his eyesight during a mission and his wife. She eventually sacrifices herself in order to save her husband's honor. Principal photography on Bushi no Ichibun is slated to start in early 2006. Takuya Kimura [2046] will star in the lead role as the young blind swordsman.".
Now, I highly recommend to anyone that loves a slow, deep narrative to track down the first two which have appeared just about everywhere by now (well, 'The Hidden Blade' got a great 2-Disc HK DVD with English Subtitles) and enjoy these wonderful movies.

I wasn't too keen on Takuya Kimura being cast but I'm still looking forward to this movie.
I don't know if the guy can carry a movie in the leading role, but I liked Takuya Kimura in what I've seen in him so far (2046/Howl's Moving Castle/a bunch of tv shows). We'll see. Looking forward to it.
I've had a the good fortune to see both Hidden Blade and Twilight Samurai on the big screen and am very much looking forward to this. Yoji Yamada is a veteran director who will surely guide his star toward a great performance. And I'm looking forward to seeing Yoji's sober, meditative take on the character of blind swordsman, which is a fun, ironic notion as I'm now looking at Takeshi Kitano as Zatoichi in the sidebar ad on this very page.
I'm a big fan of Takuya Kimura and I think he will do a great job in the role. I believe the director Koji Yamada knew exactly how he wanted this character to be and thus made the choice of Kimura. This should prove to have the same quality and depth as the other 2 in the trilogy.
i saw this movie and kimura takuya`s performance is excellent!
