여교수의 은밀한 매력 (Bewitching Attraction) DVD Up For Preorder

I still remember that day in 2003, when the marketing campaign for Jang Joon-Hwan's 지구를 지켜라 (Save The Green Planet) started, and a whole lot of casual Korean moviegoers started believing they were going to see a romantic comedy. Poor souls...

The 'brilliant' marketing strategy behind the box office flop of Moon So-Ri's latest, 여교수의 은밀한 매력 (Bewitching Attraction), made us believe the film would be just another sexy romcom. Say, 색즉시공 (Sex is Zero) with a touch of maturity. But then when the film hit theaters, and critics found out it was something entirely different, closer to the dark and twisted comedy in Im Sang-Soo's films (with sex, too), many were left confused at best, many others just ignored the film after its decent opening. This is another chance for the film to be properly evaluated, without all the silliness the misleading marketing brought to the table. Seems like another quality performance from Moon, who completely changes the cards in this one, and the rest of the cast is quite good, including Ji Jin-Hee and theater-trained Park Won-Sang.

KD Media is releasing the DVD around the 25th, but there's already a preorder up. We're getting two discs, and even though for now there's only Korean subs listed on many sites, it's the same situation we faced with the 야수 (Running Wild) DVD: early specs are just that... early. I would be VERY surprised if this doesn't feature English Subs, especially as MK Pictures are behind this. But of course we'll let you know when things are confirmed.
