All 39 episodes, 20 of which are in the first set due on July 18th in America, remastered and with stereo sound, new subtitles, plus the inclusion of the dub for the 1970's broadcast in the USA. Nice. Second half of the series is out in October 2006, both should have a nice host of extras and a lengthy and very informative bookley. Good value for money this set, a great way to get these much longer (though admitedly older) series out there without going the long and overly expensive route that we get all too often. Nice decision from BCI Eclipse. Let's hope for more work like this, and for more of this kind of show that's pretty much over-looked on DVD. [Source : Fangoria].
Oh how I have waited for a solid R1 60's Ultraman release!
Thanks for the heads up!
Damn, someone finally got around to doing this baby right. I wonder what the price point will be? Tokusatsu is still rather unknown/unpopular in the US... but Ultraman can help change that. Nothing like the original series, light and fun, filled with real heart.
i forgot to mention : RRP is just $40.
Of all the Ultraman shows (both new and old) the first one is still my personal favorite, although "Ultra Seven" is still considered the best among fans. Looking forward to picking this up in July (hope it goes on Special Order soon). While I wish the extras were a little better, I'm not complaining. Just that fact that the original Japanese audio soundtrack is included is good enough for me. Hopefully BCI will include information on the other Ultraman shows as well as the "Ultra Q" black/white series. I'm sure there are others who are interested in learning more about the other Ultraman heroes like Taro, Leo, Astro, Jack (Return), 80 and Ace.
