Live Action Devil May Cry Movie In The Works ...

(Posted In Action Film News Martial Arts Sci-Fi / Fantasy USA and Canada )

devil_may_cry_2.jpg... and, no, I'm not talking about the long rumored Japanese adaptation.

Shadow Motion Pictures, a tiny independent based in Atlanta, are currently prepping a forty minute live action short based on Devil May Cry to screen at Atlanta's DragonCon. The film is being directed by R.L. Scott and produced by Tee Covington - both accomplished martial artists, Covington has a demo reel here - with music and sound design by Brian Moody. Covington also stars.

Word is this is at least partially intended as a pitch for a full length feature titled Devil Hunter and I'm told a website should be live in the next couple weeks.

Egads.

Wouldn't this just be a fan film?

I doubt they got the rights from Capcom for this.

it's being shown to capcom for a possible deal or something, so no, i don't think they have movie rights.

Covington might star sure ... but as who ?? There's not a single damn black person in the DMC universe. No offense, the dude does some amazing spin-flip-kick jazz, but I'm calling *BS* on this right here.

Wow...he's pretty good. Of course with my intense regime of cakes, beer and pizza I can leap up in the air 2 inches and fall on my belly much better than he can...ahem.

yea, but i prefer the japanese and capcom colaboration with ryuhei kitamura as director maybe and Tak Sakaguchi as Dante with the Versus/Death Trance crew in terms of action

» Posted by chomogo at April 26, 2006 04:56 AM

Covington could play Dante's demonic antagonist. That answer you're question?

Tak Sakaguchi? But..but...Dante's an energetic, crass, loudmouth badass who's always spouting one liners. Tak's more of a stoic type.

Tak's more stoic? Uh, in Versus he was an energetic, crass, loudmouth badass who always spouted one liners.

Ah Crazy....you need to learn yourself some sarcasm! ;)

» Posted by CTDeLude at April 26, 2006 04:19 PM

Can't really tell if a comment is sarcastic online, unless it's noted!

Tees tight, he won a grand championship forms tournament in the battle of Atlanta a few years back. i think he's playing a Demon in the film.

It's definitely beyond the scope of a fan film. They've got financial backing and they're including wire work, CG and mo-cap for the demonized Dante. They're small, but they're a professional company and it sounds like they're giving it their best shot ...

» Posted by Todd Brown at April 26, 2006 08:11 PM

I've found out that R.L. Scott, the director for the film wrote the original Underworld script... so it should be interesting.

Id rather the ppl who did the Resident Evil movies make this one cause they are real good at that stuffs and they can usually make it longer than 40 minutes...DMC Rocks!!!

» Posted by Casey at November 18, 2006 09:45 AM

i heard that capcom had done a deal with a company called gaga comunications to make a feature lenth film of devil may cry and they have allready picked some of the actors e.g drew coombs as dante and sarah lafleur as trish and it is being released in 2009

» Posted by man x at December 31, 2006 02:06 PM

i heard that there was going 2 b a Devil May Cry Movie called "The Sons of Sparda Movie" and 2 b relished in 2008, but that was a long time ago. and i think that Devil May Cry should team up with Resident Evil 2 produce a film of dmc, cus i think they`ll b able 2 make the film longer that way

DMC IS THE BEST GAME EVER!

i've been wainting for the movie to come out!! although i couldn't imagine who would be good enough to play Dante, but i think maybe Gaspard Ulliel, could play him. he looks like him to me. just doesn't have blonde hair. Gaspard is the actor who played hannibal in "hannibal rising"

» Posted by shannon at February 19, 2007 02:26 PM

I think Christian Bale would be the best Dante. He was Quinn in Reign of Fire and he was Batman in Batman Begins.

» Posted by Nava at March 6, 2007 01:26 PM

DMC would make a badass movie but who would play dante

» Posted by rayne at April 9, 2007 03:07 PM

who weould play dante....waht about vergil...and jester? and i agree about getting the people from resident evil 2 in on it. 40 mins is way too short i would make it at least 2 hours. they have soo much to work with.

» Posted by player786 at April 19, 2007 05:38 AM

also....

they should give the people voacal lessons because having an acsent will ruin the film.

dmc is the best...wait forgot about god of war.

God Of War movie next please
