Well, I'm back from Philadelphia - still more reviews coming, though, thanks to the bundle of screeners I brought back with me - and majorly swamped with stuff that came in while I was gone. So, in the interest of saving myself time and energy I present to you this list of interesting things that have turned up in my normal trailer haunts over the past week:
Witchblade Anime Trailer (Streaming Windows Media). Bad metal soundtrack but the animation looks solid, which is no surprise considering it's coming from Gonzo, one of Japan's better studios. Looks to be mighty heavy on the fan service front.
Toki wo kakeru Shoujo Trailer. (Streaming Windows Media). More Japanese animation, this one from MAdhouse, another of the better studios. Teen drama or sci-fi fantasy? Is there a difference? That one via Catsuka, home to more quality fringe animation news than you can shake a stick at.
Spy Hunter Pre-Vis. These ones come via the Latino Review who have a series of early CG tests of the vehicles from Spy Hunter in action. All clips in Quicktime format. Weapons Van. On board. Spy Cycle. Spy Interceptor.
The American Trailer for Banlieue 13! (downloadable Quicktime) Yep, the film is fairly old news around here - multiple reviews in the archive - but MAgnolia have just cut their trailer for the film and it's a good one, setting things up nicely and giving a good taste of the action without going to far into spoiler territory or giving up the big money shots.
Two new Nacho Libre trailers. I'm pretty sure one of these has been circulating for a while, actually, but it was new to me. Of the two there is the good one that captures the quirky mood of the thing very nicely and then there's the "What the Hell Were They Thinking?" version that tries to cast the film as a mainstream family comedy, complete with Mr. Movie Voice doing the voice over. If the studio really believed this was the sort of film they would get from Hess, they're out of their minds ... bad version courtesy of the fine Russian lads at Kino Govno ...
X Men 3 TV Spots. Three of 'em, all in Quicktime, again, all hosted at Kino Govno, though I imagine they're available elsewhere as well. Let's just say my feelings about this one aren't as negative as they were for The Fantastic Four, but they're still pretty damn poor. Spot One. Spot Two. Spot Three.
And, finally ... a fourteen minute behind the scenes reel from Silent Hill. It's EPK material, really, but there's some good stuff in there. And, once again, hosted over at Kino Govno.
Not a bad trailer... but DISTRICT B13 is from the producers of ONG BAK? Yeah, and LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN is from the producers of HERO.
Has there been a released date set for District B13. I have been waiting for this one for some time now.
Oops. Nevermind "DVD Release Date: 9/5/2006 - Date for DVD release subject to change."
I was surprised at the Witchblade trailer. I honestly was expecting something pretty crappy. Although it didn't blow my mind, it was a lot better than I had expected.
