Time to scrape the pennies together again, belatedly it seems, as the listing at YesAsia has shifted to now show 'Tagatameni' was issued in Japan at the end of February with English Subtitles, and not without as was previously stated. Shame when that happens to listings, probably missed out on some orders because of it, but there's loads to keep track of - could have checked myself, but if I double-checked every Japanese release without subtitles I would be there all week long. Anyway, applying the same basic 'check it out, use the translator' skills I tested for the first time in a while yesterday, I see that it does indeed have English Subtitles. So, those Asano Converts out there reading Twitch - here's another choice for you.
Here's what Aaron sent in to us to explain a little more on the film, back in September of 2005, ""just wanted to let you know alittle bit more about that new asano movie you posted the trailer for. My wife watched it (she's japanese) and she said that asano's girlfriend was murdered by that younger looking boy. I guess the boy was 15 or under and he can not be held responsible even though they know that he murdered her. It seems that Asano's character is thinking about how he can get revenge. Seems like a lot more darker than a romantic drama. ha ha. Hope this helps."

YES! YES! YES!
saw this movie a few weeks ago...
interesting idea... tadanobu's acting is good, but not outstanding due to poor dialogue... overall a disappointment. but that's just my opinion.
his poor dialogue is part of character: war-weathered, world-weary and distanced from human contact.
It's a very good little drama. Really enjoyed it.
