Song Kang-Ho Plays Gangster After 9 Years

(Posted In Asia Drama Film News )

wonderfulsong.jpgSure, 반칙왕 (The Foul King), 조용한 가족 (The Quiet Family), 살인의 추억 (Memories of Murder) and Park Chan-Wook's films helped a lot. But if we can enjoy Song Kang-Ho's performances as one of the most sought after actors in Korea, then we should first look at a little great role he had in Song Neung-Han's 넘버 3 (No. 3), when he managed to steal the show from navigated 'seniors' like Han Suk-Gyu, Choi Min-Shik and more. His Jo-Pil, the stuttering gangster wannabe ready to explode at any sign of insubordination, getting excited talking about Choi Young-Ui, Hyun Jung-Hwa and other heroes of that 'Hungry Spirit', created a cult following... fanbase which will certainly be interested to hear this new development.

With Bong Joon-Ho's 괴물 (The Host) wrapping up and now undergoing post-production, Song has been cast in 우아한 셰계 (A Wonderful World), the new film from 연애의 목적 (Rules of Dating)'s Han Jae-Rim. What will he play? A Jopok 'No.2' living a double life: tender and considerate husband by day, ruthless gangster by night. Song's rival in the film (another gang member) will be cast through audition, while the rest of the cast is announced. Shooting is expected to start in May. Of course, LOTS more on this in the coming months.

Hungry Spirit!

I love this guy('s acting)! As long as he doesn't go to Hollywood to play a Geisha, I'll watch anything he's in. Luckily, his choices of movies to play in have been very good.

I know this is basically unrelated, but I wanted to post it where it might get noticed by Korean film fans..
DVDFromKorea.com now says the Running Wild (Yasu) Director's Cut Limited Edition DVD WILL have English subtitles, and because of this last-minute decision, the release date has been pushed back until late April.. Still, great news!
