Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam!

(Posted In Cult Film News Horror Random Geek Talk Sci-Fi / Fantasy USA and Canada )

miners.jpgWell all the Silent Hill posters are out, and they are nasty. One of my most anticipated films of the year, I think it's going to become an instant classic. I've been following this film ever since Roger Avary put it on his blog. Also am a big fan of the director Christophe Gans, who flexed his cinematic muscle with the Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Posters

I have one question though, the art in these posters looks familiar. I know I've seen this style before, I'm just not quite sure where...

I know they remind me very much of the paintings and sculptures of H.R. Giger.

Reminds me a tiny pit of the cover image for Mamoru Oshii's AVALON.

these posters remind me a lot of the Worst Case Scenario trailers... hmmmm....

And it looks pretty familiar to his Brotherhood of the Wolf poster as well...

I'm thinking something from Dave McKean's Stabbing Westward CD artwork:

posters look like pretty much any graphic novel cover from 1985 onwards : probably most reminiscent of SANDMAN i think, but I think the best example of this kind of scratchy almost photo image is bill sienkiewicz.

that face on this poster reminds me a bit of the big guy in the underground of House Of 1000 Corpses

They remind me of the NiN video, CLOSER by Mark Romanek.

They look a lot like Tusken Raiders to me.

Looks a little like the Surgeon General in Miller and Gibbon's "Give Me Liberty" or that cheapier horror flick that came out a couple years back.

I'm with Worst Case Scenario...

I'm thinking Surgeon General from Skinned Deep. Might I add HOLY SHIT THEY ARE SWEET and it's cool see they've reverted to the Japanese name 'Red Pyramid' as opposed to Pyramid Head. Roll on the 21st.

It reminds me of Jin Roh Wolf Brigade.

It looks like Richard Corben's artwork. From his adaptation of a Boy & His Dog.

I am convinced this is going to be the yardstick for videogame adaptations and prove that anything can be made into a good film, you just need the right creatives on it.

It's the first videogame that has genuinely tried to bring the concept to a film format, rather the entire videogame adapted for live characters and thrown against a camera.

Boll take note.
