2006 FEFF Lineup Announced

(Posted In Asia Continental Europe and Russia Random Festival News )

feff8.jpgDarcy over at Koreanfilm.org just announced the lineup of the upcoming Far East Film Festival in Udine (a little city in the North-East of Italy), and it's quite a yummy.

We have Miike's Masters of Horrors, quite a few tasty Thai flicks, including แหยม ยโสธร (Hello Yasothorn) and ทวารยังหวานอย (Bangkok Loco); Wai Ka-Fai and Derek Yee from Hong Kong, the glorious リンダ リンダ リンダ (Linda Linda Linda), and on the Korean side, lots of good stuff: the acclaimed Moon So-Ri drama 사과 (Sa-kwa) which still hasn't been released at home, 웰컴 투 동막골 (Welcome To Dongmakgol), some fine melodramas from last year, Jang Jin, and more.

But the biggest treat for me personally, even if it will only mean a huge 'serves you right, next time try to go', is the screening of Han Hyung-Mo's 1956 comedy 청춘쌍곡선 (Double Curve of Youth), which is part of a panorama on Asian Musicals, with the great 香江花月夜 (Hong Kong Nocturne) thrown in. Maybe no huge titles, but it sounds balls of fun. If you're near Italy between April 21 and 29, this sounds like a pretty badass way to spend the week. For a variety of reasons I won't be able to attend this time, but Twitch will be there next year, and hopefully we'll get another tasty lineup like this one. As always, top notch picks by Darcy, Stephen, and all the folks at FEFF.

Lucy, Group Power Workshop are distributing KING AND THE CLOWN in Taiwan on 12th May. It goes head-to-head with Long Shong's release of ELECTION 2. Taiwan DVD release of CLOWN is unlikely to have English subtitles; best wait for a disc from Korea.
