Good Lord, People ... Enough With The Requiem For A Dream Music Already ...

(Posted In Continental Europe and Russia Film News Horror Trailer Alert )

sheitanswarrior.jpgSweet mother of mercy, there should be a statute of limitations on how many times the same music can be used for a film trailer. I'm sure Clint Mansell's happy about all the residuals his score for Requiem For A Dream is pulling in thanks to the high profile trailer use but enough is seriously enough and the line between 'enough' and 'majorly excessive' was crossed at least three films ago, by my count ...

The latest to jump on board? A Serbian horror flick titled Sheitan's Warrior, about a group of Serb tennagers who stumble across a book that can summon a mythical demon last called upon to defend the Ottoman Empire in its final days. Yes, they use the book. Yes, the demon comes. Yes, many people die. I stumbled across the trailer over at Fangoria and while it doesn't look horrible I doubt anyone would be paying it any attention if it were a US rather than a Serb production ...

Well, the way you told my the synopsis, it seems like something that actually starts with a pretty healthy genre attitude. I mean, what are kids supposed to do? Not use the book?

prom nightmare, you make it sound as if you're NOT friends with the crew.

Dale, what do you know?

I know nothing, I just have the imdb and a wee bit investigative spirit. Let's just say that your email adress reveals too much. Sucka!

If I'm to be honest, it looks about as weak as any direct-to-video movie involving demon summoning that we get here in the states. However, Serbian cinema is little-seen around these parts, and I have a Serbian friend, so I'd probably check it out if given the chance - despite the generic-ness of the whole thing.

ey, that wasn't bad. it has a nice authentic "eastern european" vibe to it ;)

maybe it's just me, but I'm fairly certain (as I listen to it) that the theme was done by Howard Shore.

Now now, peoples from Western countries tend to be harsh without even taking a look. I've just seen Sheitan's Warrior (btw, I'm from Belgrade, Serbia) and I think it's quite a fun. Not just because it's a SERBIAN movie, but because there is a nice historical bit, because the people (fancy boys and girls, mafia guys, nerds, skinheads etc.) , places and the way they act are real, and because the school parts were filmed in MY school. :D Anyway, it's a large step for serbian cinematography and I'm proud of it. The atmosphere is sometimes a bit spooky.
