Happy news for my second-favorite stop motion animator today. Laika Entertainment has reportedly outbid a number of other companies - you can do that when you've got Nike money behind you - for rights to Alan Snow's children's fantasy novel Here Be Monsters and are lining it up as the next project for director Henry Selick. It'll still be a while before it sees daylight, however as Selick is still hard at work on the animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Coraline.
Full details in the Hollywood Reporter.
i thought i read somewhere that ex-'x-men III' director matthew vaughn was going to direct 'coraline.' is it selick now? and is he going to do it stop-motion style? selick is a great match up w/ gaiman's material...
Coraline's always been Selick. Vaughn's doing Stardust.
cool todd, thanks for clarifying. what w/ the 6 or 7 gaiman projects floating around out there, it gets confusing keeping track of it all sometimes.
