THE REASONER REMINDS- X FILES SEASONS 4, 5 AND 6

filesfive.jpgWhy? Why does Reasoner review these X Files sets? I list my reasons below. But by way of getting you to read further let me say that for my money fandom (for want of a better phrase) moves way too fast these days. We forget about the great things to make more room for the merely adequate. Name a science fiction or horror based show that has had better characters and throughline or was as satisfying. Good luck. The X Files is anything but dispensible for fans interested in maintaining a mental foothold in where TV sci-fi horror has been and where it's headed

1. I wonder if the X Files tagline may have confused fans and Chris Carter equally. I always thought “The Truth is Out There” wasn’t a promise to reveal the answer to life the universe and everything but a reminder that we are each responsible for our own search. And our own individual reaction to The I Want To Believe poster above Mulder’s desk (of which I have a magnificent professionally backed repro) puts us all on one side or the other of the big questions. In other words you either think life has absolute meaning worth searching for or you don’t. That’s why the X Files is still worth watching. It’s simply a reminder not to give up even when your favorite show’s creator does.

2. Seasons 4, 5 and 6 saw many of the series best episodes and introduced a bunch of unforgettable characters. Lone Gunmen anyone? Smoking Man?

3. Is any one else with me or did Scully get hotter as the show went on? Or was that Fox? Er’ was Fox the girl. I don’t like calling a guy Fox even if he does have full pouting lips.

4. Do I need to remind everyone that these new sets (minus only the extras discs from their initial release) are to be had for less than $40 a piece?

I was a BIG BIG fan of the X-Files and watched EVERY episode since Season 1 when it was aired for the first time. But i totally lost interest when T-1000 appeared (err was that Season 7? 8? the episodes without Mulder) and stopped watching it and i don't even know how the show ends.
oh and yeah, Scully got hotter. Anderson transformed form a chubby sweety to a sexy slim agent.

i love the xfiles still as well...i agree, season 4 and 5 are the best, after that, things started getting convoluted and more complicated than even creator chris carter could handle or make up! hmm less than $40/season? i might just have to finally get the last few [not-so-great] seasons to complete the set, i've always held out cause of the price.

I've always been a big a fan of the show. I stuck thru the most painful episodes (especially the last few seasons). It was very hard , but I felt I owe it to the main cast. Did I mention I LOVE this show! Season 4 and Season 5 are my most favorite seasons. Season 4's probably their best season in my opinion. Now bring on the next movie Chris Carter!
