It's fun to wander through the web sites of film commissions. Take the Austrian Film Commission. A few clicks, and this title in the "coming soon" section caught my eye:
"Nancy and Sascha - a couple that has a very odd perception of their relationship. They decide to buy a loft situated in a run-down factory. Someone already lives there. Sanchez, the secret owner of the factory, and his buddy, the real-estate agent, have been living an exciting life of capturing and torturing young and innocent couples. Too bad Nancy and Sascha are everything but docile victims!"
My German-language skills are non-existent, but the title evidently translates roughly into English as "On Bad Soil." The production company's web site seems to talk about the need for Austria to produce more genre titles. This appears to be the debut from writer/director Peter Koller. No word yet on a release date or festival appearance for this mini-DV feature. The web site has a stack of intriguing stills but no trailer at the moment.

I'm sure this will be every bit as great as Austria's 1999 production FLASHBACK. That one was a terrible SCREAM rip-off that made its US equivalents look like works of genius. This one tries to cash in on the SAW and HOSTEL craze of "torture movies" and will fail equally.
Wan't there an AUSTRALIAN version of Scream as well ("CUT" starring Molly Ringwald...anyone see that one?)
FLASHBACK was from Germany and indeed a terrible effort. Anyways, same language but different country.
You can rejoyce - This movie's gonna be great. It's not a try to copy boiled-down mainstream cinema like "Hostel" but a pure and dirty grindhouse flick with twisted humour and lotsa rape and torment scenes which certainly will prevent an R-rating *lol*.
