Ooooh ... a new reel of footage from Russian sci-fi actioner Paragraph 78 - plenty of stills and footage links in the archive - has hit online and it's looking good. The footage isn't quite complete - there are some wires in need of painting out - and I had a codec error that kept me from hearing any audio but there is a load of new footage in there and it's all looking good. And did I mention the naked, co-ed shower fight? Because it's in there, albeit shot so as not to bother the ratings board folk.
Paragraph 78 Reel (downloadable AVI)
I hate that you guys are hyping this one up (along with a bunch of other very awesome-looking Russian films, like that crazy SciFi one that just hit DVD), because I haven't seen a Russian DVD of a Russian film come with English subtitles since Night Watch. What gives!
Bastards came out subbed ... haven't ponied up for it yet, though ...
The girl in this is a Russian pop star. She's super hot, and her music videos pretty much prove that. Upon further inspection, she even posed for Russian Playboy, which I'd LOVE to see.
Her site:

And a very hot MV:

The gallery's nice too. ;)
I'll buy this when it hits DVD even if it doesn't have subtitles, like I might do with Bumer 2 and Aziris Nuna.
I'm with bee on this...it's hard enough finding these films, but then to only find subbed versions.
What happened?
I commented before and it never appeared. I got some message about comments now being held for "review" or something.
It was kind of a long one with links and whatnot, so I'm sad about that.
:(
Ah, the links got it marked for moderation. It's an anti-spam thing, though it's only supposed to kick in when there's three or more, so I'm not sure why that one got tagged.
I've got a screener of Aziris Nuna and it's gorgeous but VERY kid oriented. It's weird, the kids don't appear in the trailer at all but the entire film is from the perspective of a couple of tween-aged brothers ...
Really? That's odd. Didn't the trailer have gunplay and other assorted violence? Still, I love discovering new SciFi stuff, and the CG in it reminds me a lot of GORA.
Yeah, there's some violence but it's all pretty bloodless. The big creature in the trailer is the sphinx that accompanies the kids throughout ...
That creature did look pretty goofy. How are the visuals, Todd? The CG looked really good. The trailer gave me Fifth Element vibes, and obviously GORA (which I previously mentioned).
Is the flick easy to follow without subtitles?
Crap, I posted too soon.
Hasn't Paragraph 78 been out in Russian theatres for a little while now? When do you think we can expect it on DVD?
I still can't figure out the plot from the trailers, but it looks a lot like Doom, without the creatures.
And I'm retarded...a simple visit to P78's website tells me that the movie is 95% complete. Dang.
The effects in Aziris Nuna are GORGEOUS ... very, very nice. Creature's a little bit goofy, but not annoyingly so. Plot's pretty simple to track without subs but I'm sure I missed a lot of subtleties ...
Excellent. The DVD is supposedly out on April 4th (2 days after my bday!), so I'll order it with my next paycheck!
Popped up an a new P78 trailor - it was shown in the cinema right before the Zhest movie:

Attention, Russian-only IP download ! :(((((
you can easily notic the string in the dudes back when he flys through the air. aside from that superficial flaw, nothing from this trailer interests me. i like good fighting in movies but what i see here appears to be very boring, though i can understand how the filming style and attitudes of the characters could be something to get excited over for some.
Dude, the footage is unfinished, meaning the wires have not been removed, color correction has not been done, and whatever effects that were to be in the shots have not been implemented. As unfinished footage, it looks mighty impressive, so what are you on about?
