The good people at Catsuka are making me feel the need to brush up on my French ...
What they've got today is a trailer for Studio 4°C's Tekkon Kinkurito and though it's a cam job from the Tokyo Anime fair it's plenty good enough to show that it more than lives up to the quality we've come to expect from the studio behind Mind Game and much of The Animatrix. Very, very nice. And if the animation style looks familiar to fans of Mind Game it's probably because first time director Michael Arias was helped out by Mind Game's Shoujirou Nishimi. Now if only they'd spill some details on Genius Party ...
Teaser, Tekkon Kinkurito
What follows is a rough translation of the post--

Here's an exclusive look at a video of the teaser for the film Tekkon Kinkurito, being shown at the Tokyo International Anime Fair. The quality of the video isn't spectacular, but it sets the tone of this future gem from Studio 4°C, dazzling us once more with a mix of 2D and 3D animation. Readers may recall that this film is directed by Michael Arias (CG artist who had already worked on the pilot fo Morimoto), along with Shoujirou Nishimi (Mind Game, Kamikaze Girls ...) as director of animation, and Shinji Kimura (Steamboy, Catnapped ...) as head of design.
I apologize for any errors.
lovely looking animation - now, 'carpricious robot' ? what about a DVD collection of 4Cs short films on DVD with subs too? ... nice stuff.
I love Studio 4°C's work and this looks promising as well, so let it be released as soon as possible!
I also posted few days ago a news about official Tekkon Kinkurito website : http://www.tekkon.net/ (with screenshots)
About Genius Party I previously posted various informations and pictures :

The most mysterious Studio4°C project remains "Sachiko" (Koji Morimoto animated-feature).
(PS : Catsuka is managed by only one person ;-] )
Actually there are 4 Studio 4C shorts on a relatively cheap short-story anthology by Grasshoppa (YesAsia should have them). They are "Professor Dan Petory's Blues, Comedy, End Of The World and Higan. All beautifully made, all subtitled, all on dvd. You'd have to buy all 4 DVDs because the studio made one short per dvd magazine but if you are a fan of Studio 4C I highly reccommend these.
Oh PLUS their most famous short Noiseman Sound Insect was actually released on dvd with subs and all in glorious anamorphic widescreen (it was a special release for Lawson, a chain of stores in Japan). You can manage to find one almost for sure at yahoo auctions in Japan. They came with a t-shirt (pink grafitti on a black shirt). It took me a few weeks and I used an auction helper site called Rinkya but I did end up with a copy including a shirt so it could be well worth the effort. Noiseman is superb.
Not sure if this was already known, but this film is an adaptation of Taiyo Matsumoto's manga (called BLACK AND WHITE here in the US). Matsumoto also created the original manga BLUE SPRING and PING PONG, and both were adapted into a live-actions film by Toshiaki Toyoda and Fumihiko Masuri respectively.
