Katsuhito Ishii Returning To Anime.

No, the director of the stellar Taste of Tea is not forsaking live action film but Katsuhito Ishii has long been active in both the live action and anime worlds and it looks like his latest anime project will be surfacing soon.

Directed by Takeshi Koike from a concept and script by Ishii - he was originally listed as a co-director but that title has apparently been dropped - Redline is a racing oriented film being produced at Madhouse and slated for a 2006 release. A synopsis? Sure:

""RED LINE" is a motor race attracting the universe-wide attention and it is held only once in five years. "Racing" is nothing but "Manhood" combining super technique of only those guys who known the relationship between themselves and the world, and stupid romance held by brainless guys.
