We reported way back in December that Radiohead had been approached to score Richard Linklater's A Scanner Darkly and things were looking likely at the time. A little later, however, word trickled down from the band's management that they had turned the offer down due to being too busy working on their new record.
Well, either their management was playing coy or the band has had a change of heart ... Entertainment Weekly has gotten word from Warner Independent Pictures that Radiohead will indeed be providing the film's score and other original music. And once again I say this is an absolutely perfect match. It couldn't possibly be better than this.
Via JoBlo, thanks to Tyler for pointing it out.
I liked the music I heard at the SXSW preview of A Scanner Darkly a lot; I can't imagine Radiohead being able to improve on it.
pinch of salt, thom yorke has been posting on their blog this week and making the press saying theyre falling apart trying to finish their new album, which theyve been recording since last august. either that or theyve been doing both for some time...?
Eh they lost it after The Bends anyway. Ok Computer had a few goodies on it for sure but it wasnt the be all and end all like some say.
With Radiohead on board, it may be the best film ever!!!
oh my gawd! :)
Nice to see good things happing. Looking forward to this film. Bigtime.
To that person who said Radiohead have lost it since 'The Bends'....you're an idiot! Kid A/Amnesiac and its B-side were the most defining moment in the band's history.
I've always imagine Radiohead releasing an entire album of 'Warp Record-esque' materials and this is a perfect excuse as well as a reason to do one from the ground up.
Radiohead + Philip K Dick = OMG!
