In just two months Finland has bested their admissions total for local films for all of 2005 combined. Why? A little film called Matti: Hell Is For Heroes has clocked in as a major box office smash, putting just under a million bums in seats in the first two months of 2006. Evidently in Finland bad hair metal plus competitive ski jumping equals massive box office success.

Did you just use the words 'bad' and 'metal' in the same sentence?
Am I surprised that phrase drew the web-monkey out of the woodwork? No, I am not.
The film's success probably has more to do with its subject matter - former ski jumper Matti Nykänen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matti_Nyk%C3%A4nen), who is easily Finland's most notorious celebrity. It's a pretty wild and uncompromising biopic, so it's no wonder that it's drawing crowds.
Over 400.000 have seen the film in it`s native land. The film is beeing shown as part of Kosmorama, The International Film Festival in Trondheim, Norway in the period 24 - 30 of March. Looking forward to it!!
