So many bad news plagued the making of Im Kwon-Taek's 천년학 (Thousand Year Crane), any news, even hearing the film started shooting would have been welcome. But this is the best possible news that could happen to Master Im's 100th film.
We reported about all the trials and tribulations the film went through, from its problems with producers and investors, who dropped out of the project right before it was about to start shooting, for lack of stars; a few weeks later, Kim Young-Min, a theater actor who was supposed to play the leading role in the film, was dropped out of the picture as well, with new investors Kino 2 looking for someone else to fill the gap.
But as the film is approaching crank in (March 11), the new lead has been announced: Jo Jae-Hyun. Jo, whose melodrama 로망스 (The Romance) will debut in theaters on March 16, and is shooting Kang Woo-Suk's blockbuster 한반도 (The Korean Peninsula), will play the role of Dong-Ho, in his first ever collaboration with Im Kwon-Taek.
