Matsuda + Tsukamoto = Bliss!

Oh, wow ... I'm not sure what this means for the large scale war picture that had been announced as Shinya Tsukamoto's next feature, but Don Brown at Ryunganji has just spotted a news story in Japan that states Tsukamoto's next project will be titled Akumu Tantei, which translates to The Nightmare Detective, and will star Ryuhei Matsuda as a suicidal detective who can enter people's dreams to solve mysteries. The original character is apparently deliberately written in the style of Edogawa Ranpo and may become the subject of a series of films. Nice.

Well, Ryuhei Matsuda is awesome, and Shinya Tsukamoto is one of the worst directors living today...so I'm not so sure where this will end up.
