And the Winner Is ...

(Posted In Giveaways )

oscar2.jpgSO, the Oscars have come and gone with a couple surprises - Crash? The pimp song? - but here's the big question: who won our Oscar Pool? It sure wasn't me as I clocked in with a final score of -1 using our +/- system ... why, oh why did I bet against the big monkey? Oh, well, of the Twitch crew at least I managed to beat X who came in at -2 while the winner of the local set was Kurt, the sly devil who submitted only a partial list of picks and came in +5.

The big winner? Karin Natan who came in a whopping +14, followed by Toros at +8 and Mark at +6. The prizes? A whopping eight, five and three dollars, respectively. Yes, it's high stakes here at Twitch. Congrataulations!

Ahhh... -2. I showed my true colours. ^_^

I'm wondering, was Jon Stewart able to elevate proceedings to 'barely tolerable' this year, or still 'I'd rather throw my right arm in the oven' level like the last few years?

damn memoirs of a geisha, it totally messed up my score getting three undeserved awards. the choices were pretty conservative (aside from Crash wining best picture), penguins over murderball, rachel weisz over michelle williams.

jon stewart gained momentum as the night went on, and did what he does best: snide remarks to events around him: my favorite: 3 6 mafia: 1, Martin Scorcese: 0. and the lobbying commericals were daily show vintage hilarious.

to be honest I think Chris Rock and Steve Martin are a better fit for the show, but I was glad to see Jon Stewart.

Felicity Huffman was robbed of an Oscar. The problem was that not so many had the opportunity to see TransAmerica - a very fine film - since TWC released it in a VERY small number of theatres. But, they had no problem smothering the public to death a few years ago with Cold Mountain TV ads. and saturating theatres with it once released in the hope of giving it an Oscar push - a mediocre film in my humble opinion.
