Shu Qi is Your New Gangster Wife... 3

We reported a couple of months ago that Zhang Ziyi would star in the (final?) installment of the 조폭마누라 (My Wife is a Gangster) saga, but that turned out to be just a rumour, despite the controversies over the way the actress' management and the production company handled the matter.

Who will replace her, then? Seems like it will be talented Shu Qi, who was chosen as the new lead in the 3rd Gangster Wife film. Lee Soon-Yeol, president of Hyunjin Cinema, commented this morning that 조폭마누라 3 (My Wife is a Gangster 3) will star Shu Qi in the leading role, after he convinced her management last February. The film brings back Jo Jin-Gyu to the directing chair, the same director of the original 2001 gangster comedy, and Shu will star as a triad boss daughter who escapes to Korea. The company was trying to find a 'replacement' for Zhang, and the choices were either Shu or Cecilia Cheung (who's probably too busy to handle this), but since Shu was a big fan of the previous two films, it was a pretty quick and easy choice. Seems like a lovestory between this 'daddy's little girl' and her gangster translator will form, and of course the film will prepare for a Chuseok release, starting its shoot next month.

For some reason Shu Qi playing a Triad girl on the run doesn't sound too bad...
