First, if you haven't caught 24 Hour Party People or Tristram Shandy by now, it's time to run to your favorite DVD store (or if you are in a Metropolitan area in North American, the local cinema for the latter). Good news, the TimeOut Movie Blog (The TOMB) has a news bit indicating that Michael Winterbottom has acquired the rights to 'Murder in Samarkand', the controversial memoirs of the former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray.
Production will not likely be starting in 2006, as Winterbottom is working on an Italian ghost story film, "Genova," first. It should be worth the wait though, as the track record of Coogan/Winterbottom collaborations is positively stellar at this point.
